Robert Burns Night

Join us for the New York Branch’s free virtual Robert Burns Night—an evening to celebrate all things Scottish. There will be a cooking demonstration and engaging overviews of Robert Burns and Munro Bagging, interspersed with dancing and questions to test your knowledge of Scottish culture and history.  And yes—the Address to the Haggis!  If you’d like to cook along with us and make cranachan, you will need the following:

Cranachan - Makes 4 servings

  • ½ cup (100g) steel-cut oats (aka pinhead oatmeal)

  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar

  • 8 ounces (250 grams) raspberries

  • 4 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling

  • 4 tablespoons whisky (optional)

  • 1 ½ cups (315 ml) heavy whipping cream (or double cream, if available)

For the quiz section, you may want to have pen and paper, and for the Address to the Haggis, you may want to have a dram ready.
