RSCDS New York


New York Branch classes are held weekly in Manhattan on Thursday evenings during the fall, winter, and spring. RSCDS affiliate group Scotia Dancers holds classes in Manhattan on Monday evenings and there is a Brooklyn class on Tuesday evenings. Please see our links page for other nearby SCD groups.

Class Format

7:30pm-7:45pm Warm-up
7:45pm-8:45pm Classes
8:45pm-9:00pm Tea Break
9:00pm-10:00pm Social Dancing (starting with one dance for all levels, then continuing with more challenging dances for experienced dancers; basic class dancers are welcome to stay and watch)

Warm-up starts promptly at 7:30, so please arrive a few minutes early to change into your dance shoes.

Basic Class

Series package (must be registered no later than the third class of the series): $50
Basic class registration will be open November 30 - December 14. Brand-new dancers welcome!
End-of-series party nights are not included in the above package; admission to the party nights is $10 for members and $12 for nonmembers.

Experienced Class

Single class, member: $10
Single class, nonmember: $12
Full-time students: Half price
Dance card (10 evenings prepaid), member: $85
Dance card (10 evenings prepaid), nonmember: $100
The experienced class is for Scottish country dancers at the intermediate or above level. We love having experienced dancers from out of town come to visit for a class, too!

Pre-season Party: Sept. 7
7:30pm-10pm at St. Bart's. $10 members/$12 nonmembers/half price for students. Dance cards may be used to cover the fee, but it is not included in the basic class package.
Series I: Sept. 14 - Nov. 9
(No dancing Nov. 23)
Series II: Nov. 30 - Feb. 1
Series III: Feb. 15 - Apr. 12
Series IV: Apr. 26 - Jun. 21
End-of-Season Joint Party: Jun. 25 (Monday)
